John and Steven chatted with Bob Walmsley on BBC Radio Leeds on Saturday 16th October telling listeners about Goldilocks.
The competition to win tickets has now closed, thank you to those that entered.
The correct answer was of course Roy Orbison. All the entrants had the right answer, but the lucky winner was James Smithson, who will receive 4 free tickets for the show.
We are delighted to announce that Billy Pearce has agreed to appear in our production of Return To The Forbidden Planet. Billy won't actually be on stage in person, but will appear in pre-recorded sequences as The Newsreader/Narrator.
The action is set onboard the US Albatross space-ship as it blasts off on a routine survey flight, but the flight turns out to be anything but routine. The Newsreader sequences are broadcast from Earth to the crew and serve to set the scenes and summarise the action onboard. Billy's zany personality mirrors the madcap action that runs throughout the show.
Billy will be filming the scenes just before the start of his busy Summer Season at the North Pier in Blackpool. He is of course, well known for his many television appearances including three Royal Variety Shows and five Children's Royal Variety Shows, but he is no stranger to the stage. He has appeared in Boogie Nights with Jimmy Osmond and has also appeared in The Rocky Horror Show as the Narrator.
He is probably best known in his native Yorkshire for his famous pantomimes at the Bradford Alhambra, (almost as popular as the Morley pantomimes).
WARNING
This show is not to be taken too seriously. Please do not attend if you are of a serious disposition. You will be required to suspend belief and must be prepared to chuckle, laugh, (and groan) as you sit back and enjoy the voyage.
With a Star Trekesque crew, a roller skating robot and a space monster you are guaranteed something a little bit different as you wallow in the nostalgia of 1950's & 1960's music
IT'S IN THE CAN !!
We have now filmed the sequences involving Billy Pearce. The recordings were done at our rehearsal room on the 21st of July.
Billy and the MAOS production team had a bundle of laughs during the filming as Billy threw himself into the spirit of the show. It will be evident to everyone who comes to see Return To The Forbidden Planet just how valuable Billy's contribution has been, his infectious humour and enthusiasm will certainly enhance the production.
MAOS are very fortunate that Billy was able to help us in this way, and we thank him for his time and effort.
It was very interesting to hear Billy's recollections from his early days when he took part in amateur productions in the area, prior to him pursuing his professional career.
